BACK TO SCHOOL: HIGHLIGHTING THE BEST RESOURCES FOR INVESTOR EDUCATION IN THE CLASSROOM

21-Member Alliance Including SIFMA, FINRA, SEC and State Securities Administrators Highlights Top Investor Education Resources for Teachers and Students

WASHINGTON, D.C.//September 23, 2009//Are you a teacher looking for finance and investment-related educational resources for your classroom? Are you searching for ways to let your pupils have fun while also learning important financial lessons they'll need for the future? Are you a parent looking for tips for the best way to teach your kids about finances and investing?

Help for teachers and parents is available today from the nonprofit Alliance for Investor Education (AIE), which is highlighting 10 of the best Web-based resources for educating children about saving and investing. The Alliance's new "Back to School: Investor Education in the Classroom" is available at http://www.investoreducation.org/backtoschool. AIE is the organization of the United States' 21 leading financial-related foundations, nonprofit organizations, associations and governmental agencies.

Alliance for Investor Education President Dallas Salisbury, who also serves as president and CEO of the Employee Benefit Research Institute (EBRI) and chairman of the American Savings Education Council (ASEC), said: "In these uncertain financial times, it is more important now than ever that children are taught not only about how the financial system works in the United States but also how to manage their own personal finances through saving and investing. We want to make sure teachers and parents know where they can find the best available information from the experts."
