BUILDING WEALTH: THE WEB'S 10 BEST TOOLS FOR REACHING YOUR FINANCIAL GOALS THROUGH SAVING

AIE Push Marks 2011 "America Saves Week" and "Military Saves Week"

WASHINGTON, D.C.//February 16, 2011//Have you been taking a good, hard look at the state of your family's nest egg and wondering how to grow it for the future? Did you recently graduate from college and get a job and want to start setting aside money in an emergency fund as well as look at long-term savings goals? Are you a member of the military who just got married and wants to buy your own home in a few years, knows there are special programs available to you to purchase a home, and wants to put away enough money for a down payment?

Savers and those who are looking to become savers can also now benefit from a major new resource being made available today from the nonprofit Alliance for Investor Education (AIE). "Building Wealth: Strategies and Best Resources to Reach Your Financial Goals Through Saving" is available at http://www.investoreducation.org/buildingwealth. AIE is the organization of the 19 leading U.S. financial-related foundations, nonprofit organizations, associations and governmental agencies focusing on investor education.

AIE released its collection of the 10 best resources available from its members just as America Saves Week (www.americasavesweek.org) and Military Saves Week (www.militarysaves.org) start on February 20, 2011. In addition, the National Financial Capability Challenge, an awards program designed to increase the financial knowledge and capability of high school aged youth across the United States, will be offered from March 7, 2011 through April 8, 2011. Teachers can find more information and sign up at http://www.challenge.treas.gov/.

Alliance for Investor Education President Sue Duncan, who also serves as vice president of the ICI Education Foundation (ICIEF), said: "Learning to save is an important skill all Americans should have as part of their financial capabilities. Without savings, Americans are unable to take advantage of some of the best tools to grow their wealth, like investments in retirement plans, mutual funds, stocks, bonds, and so on. In that spirit, the Alliance for Investor Education is providing a variety of our member resources so Americans have a one-stop shop for some of the best available information they need as they plan their saving strategy in looking towards the future."
